Rudolf & Melissa E-Session

This vintage inspired shoot felt like a dream! Everything was perfect, Melissa and Rudolf, their outfits, the car and the light. I enjoyed this session sooooo much and I can't wait for their wedding in September!

There's a snake in my Boots!

A few weeks ago I was sitting at my desk editing, when I felt something move on my leg. At first I thought it was the computer cable, and I ignored it. I felt it a gain and realised it was too heavy to be a cable, and looked down to my shock! There was a snake inside my right boot, sticking it's head inside and its tail sticking out! Don't ask me how it got there! I was cold with fear, and struggled to move my arms. So I calmed down and called my hubby and my dad to come rescue me. " There is nothing you can do now" was my dads words. "Take off your shoe". There was no way that I was gonna do this on my own. Filled with terror whilst waiting for them to arrive, I realised that I had read Psalm 91 that morning, part of my routine (I'm trying to memorise it) And I now had to believe what I've been reading. Much easier to read than to believe. So after a few moments I felt it move again, and drop down and sail away. Two minutes afterwards my hubby and my dad arrived and helped me take my shoe off to make sure it wasn't there anymore. Most terrifying experience I've had thus far! And now whenever I see these boots, I make sure there is nothing inside!

Amalia {Portrait}

When artists collaborate the end result is usually very interesting. And I have to be honest, these images wouldn't have been what they are without the help of Amalia, Conrad Bo and Alfonso from www.1886.co.za. Amalia did an amazing job with the styling and make-up for our second portrait session we've done together. Beleive it or not, but I was even more on my nerves doing this shoot than the first time I photographed Amalia. Any shoot for me is quite nerve wrecking, don't know why, but it always feels like running athletics, your heart races until the shotgun fires, and then you are all right. Photographing a person for a second time, to me, means harder work to be different and more successful than the previous shoot. With all the adrenalin pumping, I think the end result is quite successful. It's always a pleasure working with Amalia, she is so laid back and funny, I burst into laughter quite a few times, yet her talents are plenty. I can honestly see her on a cover of Vogue or Harpers Bazaar, she has a presence, something you would expect from Marilyn Monroe, but with a South African touch. I would just like to thank her for having confidence in my work, for Conrad Bo whose stunning art set the mood in our backgrounds and for Alfonso from 1886 for the stunning venue. This was a great shoot and I hope to be able to do many similiar ones in the future.

A Fun and Loving Day at the farm

I remember as a child going on day trips with my parents. It's funny how much I can actually remember, a lot of the time my parents don't even remember. This day reminded me of my childhood, fun and loving, what memories are made of! Suzelle and James have such cute kids, I adored them and we had a  great afternoon. We had such a great laugh when one of the chickens chased Zane, he didn't think it was funny at all! Location family shoots are so different to other shoots, because it feels more like holiday.
