About Kiekie

My name is Schantel. I established Kiekie Photography in 2008, after a very successful partnership with one of my friends, we both decided to start out on our own, and I have never looked back.

Now over 4 years later, I'm loving every moment! I enjoy all kinds of comissions, kids and families, weddings, couples and more. I love the fact that I'm archiving people's memories.

A bit of history: After finishing school, I went to exciting London and worked there for 2 years. Here, whilst working at a record company, I met a lot of photographers and designers, whom made me realise what I want to become. My work in London made it possible for me to travel a lot, I absolutely love traveling!

I then returned back to sunny South Africa, and finished my BA Degree in Information Design and specialised in Photography. My design background has given me a different perpective to photography, thus I have my own style. I'm currently doing a diploma in photography to keep with the trends and technology. This I will finish in October 2012.

I also work hard to do a workshop with an International Photographer each year. One such workshop was the Fashion Photography masterclass in 2009 with world reknown fashion Photographer Bruce Smith.

Recently also attending the Lyonshop with American photographer Amelia Lyon and the WPPI in Las Vegas where I was united with many talented photographers across the globe to extend our knowledge and to network.

I describe myself as lighthearted, focused, generous and friendly.  My love of meeting new people and building relationships brings me great joy. And my core motivation comes from the subjects that I photograph, finding in them continued inspiration. I'm proud to say that I have a broad base of regular clientele and a thriving photographic studio.

Now I'm taking it one step at a time, and enjoying life!
